HTLroundtable germany gathered some 40 hotel experts at the Titanic Hotel Chaussee Berlin, a new conference venue in the German capital.
According to data presented by STR, hotel performance in 2016 in Germany recorded 70.6% (+1 % compared to 2015) room occupancy (OCC) and a daily average rate (ADR) of € 103.9 (+3.6 %). Whereas Hamburg claimed the pole position with close to 80 % OCC, Munich remains the German rate leader with € 134 ADR.
Berlin came in second with 77.1% OCC but with an ADR of just € 96, which was still behind the former German capital of Bonn (€ 104 ADR and 60.8 % OCC).

While Hamburg´s new international attraction, the landmark Elbphilharmonie with the Westin Hotel, finally opened at the beginning of 2017, it is still unclear when the new airport BER will start its operation. However, Berlin, along with Vienna and Barcelona, remains one of the top three European meeting and incentive (MICE) destinations.
