Radisson Blu Strand Hotel Stockholm, 9 April 2015
During the annual HTLroundtable nordic countries, which was hosted by Christian Walter and Andreas Martin from PKF hotelexperts Vienna, around 30 hotel and tourism professionals discussed, amongst others, the performance of the various hotel markets in the Scandinavian region. Karin Rosén and Ulf Wiklund commented on the economical impact of the Ukraine crisis on international tourism in general. Both are partners at PKF Revidentia Stockholm, a well established audit firm which was founded in 1913, just one year after the summer Olympic Games took place in 1912 in Stockholm. This was as well the opening year of the Strand hotel, one of the traditional hotels in the Swedish capital.
Among other new hotel brands, HTL was introduced by Jesper Engman, Vice President Business Development at Scandic Hotels. The first hotel of this mid-segment brand opened in the spring of 2014 near the main train station in the city centre of Stockholm. This property (representing a conversion of several office buildings) also features windowless guest rooms which are offered at around a 10 % discount compared to the rates for the regular rooms. According to the hotel, these units usually sell out first!
